Karin Reid small concert & singing class

Karin은 내가 좋아하는 이동네 사는 Jazz singer이다. 뚱땡이 아줌마며 메조와 알토 정도의 voice를 가진 전형적 Jazz singer로 10여년전 우연히 Vogel street festival에서 보고는 그분이 나오는 곳은 열심히 따라 다니곤 했다.

한동안 뜸하다 (아마 Wellington을 왔다 갔다 하시는 가끔 break가 있다) 최근 Jonie Mitchell 주제로 아주 작은 음악회를 하시고 그 음악으로 singing class를 하셨는데, 음악회만 보고는 나도 singing class에 참여하고 싶다고 생각했었다.

 

그리고 이제 약 한달 정도 지난 지금 이번에는  Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday 주제로 같은 것을 다시 한단다. 음악회 티켓을 끊고 singing class에 대한 질문을 하고 바로 등록을 했다. 

음악회는 3월 15일 금요일 저녁 6시부터 1시간 남짓, singing class는 16 & 17 (토&일) 오후 2-5시 이다.

내가 노래는 못하지만 음악은 좋아하니 아주 좋은 시간이 될 것이다.

 

Calling ALL singing lovers!

The MIX TAPE CHOIR WEEKEND SINGING WORKSHOP is on offer once again and we will be delving into a repertoire consisting of swing and ballad "Jazz Standards" from the Great American Songbook made popular by three of the most influential singers of the Golden Age of Jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday.

The approach is to demonstrate and teach the songs aurally, so no musical or site reading knowledge is required. To add to the experience we have musical accompaniment on guitar by Alex Wolken.

NO AUDITION REQUIRED

The workshop will take place at TRIDENT HOUSE, 88 Vogel Street (entrance on Jetty Street by the flyover)

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th MARCH
2pm - 5pm

Weekend Workshop investment is: $70 (cash on arrival) but PLEASE register your participation to secure your place via: jazzdunedin5@gmail.com

LIMITED TO 15 PARTICIPANTS
(minimum of 10 required)

Like the previous workshops and the highly popular weekly choir sessions, this workshop will give us an extended chunk of time - spread over two afternoon - with which to build a repertoire of jazz standards and sing our hearts out with each other. Not only will we create a beautiful sound and have some fun, the stress-busting benefits of singing means you will leave feeling energised, uplifted and joyful.
